Hi! Time for a new update, an all positive one! I've been waiting for a new therapist since January, but that's partly my own fault since I don't want a male one. But last week I got a call from a psychologist at the clinic. She introduced herself and told me that she would be taking care of my therapy. We talked a bit about what kind of methods she uses. I had requested someone with experience of CBT since that's the only thing that's helped so far. I'm not entirely sure of the terminology but the Swedish translation stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
The difference between cognitive and traditional psychodynamic therapy is that cognitive focuses more on the problem itself than the background. This makes it a successful form of therapy when it comes to actively changing your way of thinking. "The problem is here and now, what can I do to fight it?" She said that she adjusts the treatment to the clients wishes and assured me that we won't start working at once. It's up to me when I feel ready and the most important thing right now is getting to know each other. I have a good feeling about this, so fingers crossed!
